They seem to be springing up all over the place! And that’s a good thing. Migros, the supermarket chain that’s big in Switzerland. Has been busy opening dedicated Organic supermarkets at least in and around the larger conglomerates.
What grabbed the headlines in 2012 with the opening of the first branch is now old news with shops popping up seemingly everywhere in and around the cities. A visit to a health shop to buy organic or vegan produce used to be a dark, dusty, tie-dye, insense infused affair in a quirky 60’s orientated shop. And all that with massively inflated prices.
The Alnatura Organic supermarkets are bright, modern, just like any other supermarket and often with self-checkout tills to make bagging up the good stuff even quicker and more efficient. They stock everything from dog food, herbs & spices, fresh bread, frozen produce, fruit & vegetables… all organic, and yes, there’s a huge number of articles of vegan interest… big jars of Rapunzel 100% pure peanut butter, nutritional yeast, beans, beans and more beans… and the prices, for Switzerland, are usually good trending fair.
